National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau

The National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau, (Chapter 25) was established to do collectively what it is difficult and economical for many firms to do individually.

The NCPWB operates autonomously. It has its own national organization with its own officers, technical committee, consultant and dues structure. Chapters are located in most major areas of the United States and Canada.

The primary purposes of this bureau are:

To create a pool of welders uniformly trained and qualified under ASME specifications, thereby a allowing the interchange of welders between members without unnecessary individual duplication of qualification tests and costs.
To assist contractors in providing the owner with quality welding at reduced cost through use of certified welding.
To promote, develop the use, and maintain the quality of welding generally in the piping industry.

Membership in the Bureau is open to any mechanical contractor who is regularly engaged in the fabrication or erecting of piping systems, and who is signatory to our local labor agreement with the Plumbers and Pipefitters union. Membership in the MCACO is desirable but not a requirement. This local chapter will evaluate any proposed new member firm for ability, equipment and welding facilities to perform welding in accordance with the Policy, Rules and Bylaws of the Bureau.
